Teal's World: Christmas Knitting

Finding the time during the month of December to work, prepare for the holiday, knit and blog was a challenge so I've been absent from the blog for almost a month. During that time I was doing holiday knitting and all recipients have now received their gifts so it is safe to talk about them here.

Daughter #2 received two knitted gifts. First was a pair of knitted socks. She saw the yarn while home for Thanksgiving and staked a claim before Daughter #1 arrived. The sock club pattern which came with the yarn was a lacy one which wasn't going to work so well for Boston winters so I found this alternative which was well received.

Yarn: Hill Country Yarns Instant Gratification Sock Yarn - Russet - November Sock Club

Needles: Size 4
Pattern: Brigid from Goddess Knits
Modifications: After knitting one entire sock I decided the cuff was too short so frogged and reknit adding two extra inches.

Second gift was the result of an impulse yarn purchase at the New York Knits going out of business sale. This very warm hat compliments her dark gray down coat and hot pink boots.

Yarn: 2 skeins Tahki Baby Print

Pattern: Zud Hat
Needles: Size 13

DH received an alpaca scarf in his favorite color. This project was the most challenging because I kept it secret and only knit on it when I was alone. Christmas Eve it was blocking under DD's bed and I wrapped it Christmas morning.

Yarn: 3 skeins Plymouth Baby Alpaca DK - Color 810

Needles: Size 7

Sister #2 received a scarf and like it so much she wanted to wear it with a red sweater to a family event. Fortunately her daugher convince her it clashed. This is a progress shot since I neglected to take a finished photo.
