Knitting in 2008

My prolific blog posts will soon be ending as I am leaving later this week for a two week vacation in Hawaii and when I return will be resuming my day job. Having time at home has been wonderful for my mental health and also for my knitting.

I don't usually make New Year's resolutions but I have been thinking about where I would like to go with my knitting in 2008. Having proclaimed 2008 The Year of the Sock I first want to knit at least 12 pairs of socks this year and reduce my sock yarn stash. To help me reach that goal I've joined Sock a Month Knit-Along 5 (SAM5) and the Socks from Stash Club. As I'm knitting these socks I intend to try some new techniques: toe up, circular needles, afterthought heels, short row heels, etc.

Second, I will knit at least one charity item each month. I have lots of adult hat patterns I want to try and the stash yarn to go with but may also make baby socks, baby hats, or children's items for afghans for Afghans.

Third, I will knit a lace shawl or stole.

Fourth, I want to knit two sweaters for myself this calendar year. One is on the needles already and progressing slowly.

And if it wasn't obvious before, I'm definitely a product knitter! There are knitting techniques I would like to try - entrelac and stranded colorwork are two that come to mind and perhaps I'll find time for that as well.

Have a great time in Hawaii! (Can I come?:) That was a very impressive list of accomplishments in 2007 ... I look forward to seeing your 2008 creations!
